Safety at NISS

Committed. Accountable. Every Day.

Our Message

At NISS, safety isn’t just a policy; it’s the foundation of our operations, our culture, and our promise to clients, employees, and communities. We are dedicated to ensuring that every person, every project and every interaction returns safely at the end of each day.

From kickoff to completion, from the warehouse to the jobsite, safety is our standard. At NISS, we live it, we measure it, we own it and we never compromise it. Because going home safe that’s non-negotiable.

Our Safety Philosophy

We believe:

Every injury is preventable.

No operation is too routine for a serious outcome.

Safety is a shared responsibility

From leadership to field teams, everyone owns the result.

Continuous improvement is essential

We don’t settle for “good enough.” We strive for excellence.

Safety and productivity go hand-in-hand

A safer site is a more efficient, reliable site.

How We Live It

1. Leadership & Culture
Our leadership team sets the tone: safety is not an add-on—it’s integral to every decision. Supervisors and managers promote transparency, encourage open communication, and hold each other and their teams accountable.

2. Robust Training & Competency
We invest extensively in training from orientation and equipment familiarization to advanced hazard recognition and emergency response drills. This ensures every team member has the knowledge and tools they need.

3. Risk Management & Incident Prevention

  • We maintain a rigorous hazard identification and mitigation process—with focus on critical risks, near‐miss reporting, and corrective action tracking.
  • Field safety professionals conduct audits, coaching and real-time observations.
  • Pre-shift & pre-task briefings & equipment inspections.

4. Equipment, Tools & Environment
We ensure all equipment is maintained and operated to the highest standards. Condition and compatibility matter: what you use, how you use it, and how it’s supported. We also control the environment-workspace layout, lighting, access and egress, housekeeping to eliminate avoidable hazards.

5. Performance Measurement & Transparency
We track leading and lagging indicators—such as near‐miss frequency, safety observations completed, training hours, and incident rates and share results openly with our teams. We apply the “Plan–Do–Check–Act” cycle to drive continuous improvement.

6. Well-being Beyond the Jobsite
We recognize that our employees are people first. Safety extends beyond work hours—home, family, commuting, personal health. We promote awareness, provide resources and encourage a safety mindset inside and outside the workplace.

Our Client & Community Promise

In our work with clients and communities, we commit to:

  • Integrating client and site‐specific requirements alongside NISS standards.
  • Partnering on safety planning and sharing best‐practice insights.
  • Ensuring our subcontractors and suppliers also meet our safety expectations.
  • Minimizing impact on the environment and public spaces: safety for our people
